Arts and Crafts Garden Design Buckinghamshire
BRIEF
Our clients for this garden design Buckinghamshire wanted to completely reshape the garden of this beautiful arts and crafts style house to provide a place for them to relax and entertain. With Children flying the nest it was time to remodel the garden to suit a more adult lifestyle, including entertaining areas, a large wildlife friendly pool and more space for planting. The client did however want us to retain some elements that had sentimental value, including a wendy house that had been built for their children.
DESIGN SOLUTION
We produced alternative garden designs for this project with different layouts and styles. A relaxed, flowing style was chosen with curved paths that created a circular route around the garden. The key features of this garden were:
- A new terrace that combined natural stone and resin bound gravel areas that guide you through the space and also provide a free draining, non slip surface
- ‘Table top’ pleached trees planted within the terrace to provide a relaxing dappled shade over the dining area
- A large and small pool with a connecting stream – providing a gentle sound and movement
- Garden lighting providing a subtle drama at night
- A beautiful naturalistic planting scheme
- New boundary fencing and a row of tall bare-stem shrubs to provide screening to neighbouring properties
Our garden designs combine contemporary garden design ideas with functionality and sensitivity to the site and architecture of the house. This contemporary garden design Cotswolds as incorporated a combination of sharp geometry with naturalistic elements; also including a stream and reflecting pool.
